Don't want to use one of those pre-made avatars for your identity? Learn how to use a custom picture for your avatar... perhaps a favorite pic of your display would make a nice avatar. There are some ready made "generic" avatars which you can use to create your online identity here on the forum. However, some people prefer to use a "custom" photo. The best way is crop your desired picture down in size. There is a size-limit of 150 x 150 pixels for avatars. You can use almost any software package to reduce the file size to 150 x 150 pixels. In fact, Microsoft Paint is free and comes with Windows. It works quite well for this. Just open your picture in Paint, click "Resize" and choose "Pixels", then type in "150" in the top box. The bottom box will auto-fill the other number... generally this number will be slightly larger/smaller because most pictures are not perfectly square. Click "Save" and then upload the pic to be used as your Avatar. HINT: It is best to start with a pic that is close to being square and not long/narrow. Your avatar will display as a square pic.You can find more info here... on uploading your custom avatar picture.
